If the weather is wrong, leave the Tremiti for Termoli (18 nm) and go on to Pescara the next day.
Route and waypoints
Waypoints are planning positions in open water, checked against a 1:10m coastline to be at least 1.5 nm off land except at the harbour ends. Distances and courses are calculated from them. Plot every one on the current chart before use. Courses are true.

Tuesday 27 July 2027. Tides. The range here is 0.1 to 0.3 m: tides make no practical difference. Wind and air pressure move the sea level more than the tide does.
Pescara uses the Ortona station.
Tide times are predictions made for this plan from the TICON-4 harmonic constants (DGFI-TUM) with the Neaps tide predictor, because the official 2027 tables were not yet published when it was written. Tested against the official APDL table for Leixões on 23 July 2026, the predicted times were within 8 minutes and the heights 0.1 to 0.2 m lower. Heights are above lowest astronomical tide. Check every time against the official 2027 table before sailing.
Daylight. Sunrise at Tremiti Islands 05:46 CEST. Sunset at Pescara 20:28 CEST.
Weather
Open water for 35 nm to Punta Penna.
Pescara's entrance faces south and is dangerous in a southerly or easterly sea.
Forecasts to check
Italian forecasts: Aeronautica Militare Meteomar and gale warnings (avviso di burrasca), meteoam.it. Forecast areas Ionio, Adriatico meridionale and Adriatico centrale. Zone names and issue times: Check the pilot book
NAVTEX: Italian stations cover the Ionian and Adriatic; check the station letters and times on the receiver. Check on the chart

Hazards
Marina di Pescara entrance. The entrance faces south and silts easily without regular dredging; the breakwater built in 2005 caused silting in the basin. Ask the marina for the current depth and approach in calm water only.
Gas platforms. Dozens of gas platforms stand off this coast, some as close as 2 km from the shore, each lit and charted. The official list (UNMIG, end of 2025) was used to keep the track at least 1.5 nm from the platforms named on this plan's map, but there are more structures than are shown. Keep a lookout, keep well clear and do not pass between a platform and its tenders. The size of any exclusion zone round them could not be checked. Check on the chart
Isole Tremiti marine protected area. Zone A, round Pianosa, is closed to all boats. Zone B: sail is free; motoring needs a permit from the Gargano National Park (€10 per day in 2026), and the limit is 5 kn. Zone C: 5 kn within 300 m of the coast and 10 kn out to 600 m; anchoring on sand or pebbles only. Motor boats may not enter the sea caves. The park's mooring buoys (May to September) must be booked online; in August 2026 a buoy for a boat up to 15 m cost €80 per day. One boat per buoy, an all-round white light at night, a holding tank to use the heads, no swimming from the mooring, and boats must leave the buoys above force 4.
